Donny’s Black Shoes is the musical proyect created by the young guadarrameño Daniel “Donny” López who is a pianist, arranger, composer and producer. The project is completed with a group of very talented young musicians, as they are Amos Obasohan (voice), Iván Álvarez (drums), Nicolas Cañete (bass), Víctor Villa (guitar), Miguel Velasco (sax), Ander Caro (trombone) and Francisco Caballero (trumpet).
About his artistic career, it’s worth noting that he won the Enlace Funk Award for 2021 best new group, being nominated again this year for this new project, and has been performing 3 years in a row at the Spanish referent festival “Enclave de Agua”.
Donny’s Black Shoes’ music is influenced by the wide spectrum of african american music: from jazz to soul , from funk to R&B with a stop at newsoul. All of it tinted by quality latino sounds, from Cuba to New York, with open ears and heads willing to create and recreate all this influences.
Their stage presence is marked by a contundent rythmic base, with overflowing groove, and orchestral arrangements that remind us of the best funk years of the 70s and 80s, and also to the most recet contemporary Rhythm & Blues.
This band’s mix of elements is, without a doubt, the ideal way to reach a master formula that effects both the band’s enjoyement onstage and the attendants who meet at this unique performance.
